I Couldn't Make This Stuff Up If I Tried

Sooooo........today was D Day. The girls had their preschool open house and I HAD to be there on time. And since I'm chronically late to everything, this was huge for me. I woke up, got the girls dressed (even matching) and prepared for everything (that I hadn't already prepared last night). I brushed their hair and teeth, made breakfast- all by 9! And we didn't have to leave until 9:30!!! So with my extra time, I decided to grab the morning paper and look over the headlines. So I opened the front door and turned around to find Bela in my high heels trying to sneak out. "Bela, back in the house!" I told her. But her eyes got huge and she started crying and screaming and in a split second it happened- A STRAY DOG barrelled over my baby and into our house!!!! I freaked out (can you tell I'm great in a stressful situation?!) as it went straight for Emma who was sitting on the couch. So I reached down grabbed Bela and threw her over the gate on our stairs and ran and got Emma and did the same. And then I went outside and started screaming "WHOSE DOG IS IN MY HOUSE?!" like someone is going to answer me. But I didn't want to deal with this dog because (sorry dog people out there) I HATE DOGS!!!!! So poor Scout was all puffed up and hissing at this dog and all it wanted to do was run around and wag its tail and be happy......and get my house all muddy and wet ARGH! So I'm chasing it around yelling "Out dog! Get out of my house!" and this yellow lab is just running around exploring everything. Meanwhile the girls are screaming and crying from the top of the stairs. Bela was screaming "No woof woof" poor thing.

And finally, the dog had enough and it was gone.......er sort of. I slammed the door behind it and then the darn thing just sat on my porch and whined to get back in........FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES!!!! So I had to get on the phone and call someone- but who? Who do you call when there's a happy go lucky dog on your porch that you're terrified of and don't want to go outside for fear that it will run in your house? The police? I was too embarrassed, so we just waited and I snuggled with Bela while she cried real tears saying "No woof woof" over and over again. Emma meanwhile found it hilarious to chase the cat around and say "She's getting bigger! Look at her tail mommy- she's a big cat now!" And of course, it was even funnier for her to play with the dog through the window that he was busy slobbering and snotting on. Ugh.

So.........we were only 15 minutes later than I had planned and in the chaos, I managed to trash my clean house and lose an emergency contact card. All that planning and I still look like the mom who is late and disorganized. So to the owner of the yellow lab who enjoys running in people's houses- THANKS A LOT!

What a Day...Wait- it's not over yet....

Some pics from Emma the Builder's Birthday Bash (and the painting with Grandma and Grandpa afterwards)
And Scott- you totally get the Gold Medal Dad Award for keeping your hard hat on the longest!

It started off in the usual way.......actually this day is pretty typical, I think my nerves are just frayed so I'm not as patient as I usually am. Anyways, it started off with Emma running into my bedroom asking "Mommy, are your tireds away?" Then I let her play with my guitar (she's going to rock at the guitar by the time she's 4!) while I shower. Then we go get Bela (who has usually been playing in her crib for about 10 minutes). That's when our "routine" sort of deviated today. Emma refused to eat breakfast (which is totally normal), but I decided with school starting soon, I'd better get her to start eating at least a little. So I looked at her and said "Great! You can help me clean the house!" This made her a little mad, and after 5 minutes, she refused to do either. So she spent 10 minutes in her room, yelling and screaming of course. I really feel like she's a teenager sometimes. So, after Bela finished breakfast, we all headed outside to play for a couple of hours. After a visit from Emma's new teacher for next year, we started to get ready to meet Braden for lunch. I just had to change out of my sweats (which would normally take 30 seconds), but I only managed to get up the stairs and into my bedroom before I heard the girls' voices echoing outside. Now, this isn't abnormal, they love the echo that comes from yelling out the window into the street.....so I just turned right around and yelled downstairs "Hey girls, quit yelling out the window!" But to my surprise, they weren't at the window.......so I came flying back downstairs and realized the hoodlums were outside! And worse, Emma had NO PANTS ON!!! (I had run upstairs for new underwear for her too since she had gotten so muddy outside). So after a good scolding, we met Braden for lunch (which THANK GOD went without scene- but only because they got to eat chips and salsa the ENTIRE time!) and then to EarthFare to pick out new Sigg bottles for school (the girls were so excited!). Once home, the girls went upstairs for naps.....yeah, naps. Sure! Apparently Emma spent her nap time cutting her hair- I'm so mad! I had just given her such a cute haircut- and it's already pixie short! Oh- and pulling tissues out of the box and spreading them around the entire upstairs. I found her just as she was about to color my $75 box of copies in my office!!!!! What a stinker! Yesterday she found push pins and was playing with them and the day before had gotten into my color samples in my office and painted her entire body from head to toe with eyeshadows and blush (and the carpet too of course). I found her in Bela's room that day after she had woken her sister up. I know I know it sounds like I sleep during their naps or something, but I really think I just have a stealth ninja for a 3 year old daughter. I think once school starts, her naps will become special time with me since obviously she doesn't really need them anymore.
So for those of you out there who are wondering what I'm doing while I'm not blogging, I'm washing my walls (yes, they colored them with MARKER yesterday), wiping little foofs, dragging in stinkers who escape, changing muddy clothes (Emma now likes to "cook" with mud outside), breaking up WWE matches that happen 1000 times a day in our ginormous playroom, and kissing boo boos. Oh, and when I can escape for a few minutes, I'm working on my FREE CAR with Mary Kay- almost there! Life is good.
