BIRTHDAY DAY!!!

Emma had a very happy birthday, despite the fact that she's terrified of her new toy talking vacuum. She woke up, had a nice shave with dada, got to be the "T.P. Fairy" (or t.p. theif, not sure which), and even found the stash of fig newtons. One for each hand was plenty (and about eight times more fig newton than she's ever ingested, so morning nap went out the window!). Later on came the opening of presents followed by the hiding of the presents to prevent further terror and lasagna and cake. By the end of it all, Emma was pooped and hit the hay early. What a day for the little one year old!

Countdown to Birthday

We've already started practicing "Happy Birthday" though Emma doesn't much care. She'd rather chase the cat and try to feed it grapes. That's her new thing-- feed everyone else and if they refuse the gift, GET MAD! We've eaten so much yucky smelly already-been-drooled on food, but it's the thought that counts!
We had a whirlwind trip to Angola that was fun, though exhausting. Emma got to hang out with the grandparents (and torture each animal individually) as well as Grandma Peace. She did very well, until she felt it was just time to leave.
Another funny thing Emma has picked up is that she voices her frustration whenever she drops something by groaning loudly. I guess I didn't realize how much I did it-- funny how they pick things up in the RIGHT context! I've since tried to stop.
And lastly, we have decided our Emma is the Garfield of babies. Her new favorite food is lasagna and boy can she pack it away! She eats pieces as big as ours! Holy Smokes!
