We've had a lot of fun as a family lately, especially with all of the random snow that tends to shut down our town!!!!! With our really cool sleds and fantastic-ly large hill in our yard (that leads out to an icy cul-de-sac), we tend to get all the neighborhood kids whenever the snow hits. It's been a lot of fun (or should I say daddy and the girls have had fun while mommy stays inside the warm house!) seeing all the kids out there sledding away!! And check out the HUGE snow family that the girls made with their daddy! By the end of the snowman making process, the snow parts were sopping wet (as they were already melting!) and weighed probably 150 pounds!!! WOW!!!
The girls also recently got to go to "The Ball" (Daddy Daughter Dance) with their very own Prince Charming. It was so funny to see them acting super fancy with their new necklaces and corsages!!!!! You can see Emma was a little sad in the picture as she had just given her corsage to a friend :) But she cheered up later as we all told her how kind that was........she's such a happy girl!!
We also were lucky enough to be invited to Reid's birthday party. He's such a sweet little boy and had a very special party at "My Gym" and "The Jumpee Place". His parents rented out both facilities and just let the kiddos run wild, even enjoying a class at "My Gym", which was FANTASTIC!!!!!! They loved every minute of it!!!
Emma is learning how to read- which makes us all soooo incredibly proud! She's working so hard and loves mastering different books! We're also taking her around to visit all kinds of Kindergartens........no luck yet on finding one we all love, but we're getting closer. So far her favorite was the homeschooling group- we'll see about that....... :) Truthfully, I think she'll love ANY school we visit- she just really truly loves school!! She's also learning her address and phone number, and it always cracks me up when we get to "city" which she says as "Rock Heel". HAHAHAHA!!!! It's happening- she's a true southerner!
Bela continues to crack us up every day in so many bizarre ways! Life is one stand up comedy routine to her! Yesterday she jumped on Braden and said "Wow, you have a biiiiiig belly! It's GRANDE!!" Yes, her spanish classes are paying off!!!! She loves her teachers at school dearly and has even begun to love Bible school! Her favorite song to sing around the house is "Good Morning God" which puts a smile on my face :) She despises our cat, which also makes me laugh! The other night I heard a bunch of whining in her room and went to check on her. I saw her bedroom door open, the cat get thrown out, and the door slam right behind her!!! HAHAHA!!! I guess we won't be getting another cat as I had hoped :)
The girls miss their family. Emma decided the other day she would mail herself to Grandma.....poor baby. But they continue to grow in size and love every day!
The girls had a fun Halloween season......dressing up in everything we had in the box for the last few weeks (from Crocodile Hunter to angel and everything in between!) At school, they had a Halloween parade (where they met Barney) and enjoyed painting pumpkins, riding a pony, and eating tons of sugar I'm sure! We also carved pumpkins and went trick-or-treating with some of our best friends......and even though it was 75 and humid, the girls made it to maaaaaaybe 10 houses before getting too spooked by the eerie sounds, music, and fog machines to keep from screaming, crying, and attempting to run away. But it was a fun 10 minutes! And Braden was a good sport for allowing me to try (with foundation, eyeshadow, and highlighting powder) to turn his face white :) In the end, he looked merely like a man with a lot of makeup.......an angry man with a lot of makeup :) But the kids looked cute with their green faces (all eyeshadow!) Bela's would have looked better had I actually washed it first......woops! All the dark areas are where her face was sticky :)
Bela is really growing up and talking a LOT! She makes up her own songs and sings them in her cute, off-key voice while dancing (and falling into things). Her concern for others' safety has come out at preschool when her classmates attempt to put their fingers in the bunny and chicken cages. She says it "makes me cwy". She's finally starting to warm up to Bible school and is proud that she finally gets to do something that Emma can't.......and I'm sure it helps that she gets to eat gum after she gets out (as long as she doesn't attempt to run away!) Emma is still the same old soul.....she recently had her feelings hurt at school when a little boy called her "Emma Demma". But she continues to adore school, and this week she's the "Star Student". That mean she gets to bring in a bag of her favorite things and tell the kids all about herself!!! As you can imagine, she's taking it VERY seriously! Her curiosity is still growing and she recently asked me "When I get married, will God give me a magic belly so I can have babies?" Huh......how in the world can I answer that?! She's still cautious about everything and needs to Google everything before she's comfortable doing anything!!! In fact, I showed her a video today of a Santa train. She got very excited about it, so I asked "Would you like to go?!" to which she replied "No thanks!" Ummm.......why not? Turns out she's not scared of Santa, just the train. And NO amount of coaxing will change her mind. Guess no Santa train this year!
Ok... so we're all getting tired of waiting (get the hint little mama) for new pics of the kids. So I've hijacked the website and will upload some I recently took. Enjoy!
I'd like to blame someone else for teaching my daughter to style her own hair.........but I think she got the hairdressing gene from me!!!! I'm not sure yet how we're going to fix this! I'm fielding advice, so please give me some!
If our internet weren't so slowwwwww, I could add a ton more. Not sure what's going on today- maybe it's the construction project in our t.v. room ;)
Now that the cold weather has passed (thanks to the Michiganders who took it with them!), we're back to enjoying the great outdoors in t-shirts and shorts! We took our first trip of the season to Carowinds and had a blast! But mental note for next time, I will remember not to promise Bela the "Dora Choo Choo" only to have it be torn apart and ready for a new ride to be put in its place............ Poor Bela. She's so short and can only ride a handful of rides, but it looks like Dora is no longer one of them......
Emma and Bela both relished the houseful of visitors we got this past week- Grandma and Grandpa, "Aunt Benger-ha" (aka Ben Vucic!), Carrie, Beth, Mariah, Ryan (plus pooches!) and more...... We're also REALLY looking forward to our bunny visitor tonight as well as Aunt Holly and Keith tomorrow- WOOO HOOO family on a holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Emma is really enjoying school, especially now that she's studying nursery rhymes. She has them all memorized, including some secret second verse to Humpty Dumpty I've never heard of before-- something about some band-aids and glue making him as good as new (ah, liberals, gotta make every ending a happy one! Totally kidding on that one, no offense I hope!) One of her classmates is expecting a baby brother soon....which has opened up the discussion board on a whole new area......oy vay! She asked me last week if I had a baby growing in my belly too. When I said "Mommy's all done growing babies", she just looked at me and said "Stop teasing me mom, you have a baby too". And Bela is finally really loving school too. She adores her teachers (probably because they let her sit on their laps all day) and the fun activitites they come up with. Although she did try and fake a cough on Friday to play hookie........
Both babies are on a low sugar, low dairy diet that seems to be helping Bela's and Emma's sleeping- whew. Now we're back to sleeping through the night again! And Emma hasn't had a night terror in weeks!!!!!!! We'll see how long this lasts, but so far so good.
Bela's learning language so fast now. She is learning new things daily and the things that come out of her mouth are HILARIOUS! She always wants to know "why?" (which gets a bit old) and makes up phrases for new things all the time. Like the other day when she put on a pair of shorts for the first time this year. She said "Wow! Look at my.....my......little pants!" (not knowing the word shorts yet!) How funny!
All in all, we are having a good time as we head into summer, continuously meeting new people and gaining lifelong friends. But we do miss our families......
